Ways to get there
Dunedin International Airport
Dunedin International Airport is 30 minutes by road south of Dunedin City. The airport was rebuilt and opened in 2006 and has modern facilities including a licensed café, baby changing facilities, massage chairs, ATM machine, retail shops, Koru club lounges and rental car companies. Foreign exchange and duty free services are also available for international flights.
Airlines
Air New Zealand - regular and direct daily flights between Dunedin and Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Daily connections to all other regional centres.
Jetstar - Daily direct flights between Auckland and Dunedin.
Road access
Dunedin is on State Highway 1, the main highway in New Zealand. Driving to Dunedin you can either come from Christchurch in the north or Invercargill in the south. Easy access to Central Otago and Queenstown travelling westward and inland from Dunedin. Road conditions are excellent with good quality, uncongested roads. A few gravel roads exist in rural areas and are the less used roads.
Time allowances to/from major cities and towns are as follows:
Christchurch - 4.5 hours
Oamaru - 1 hour
The Catlins - 1 hour
Te Anau - 3.5 hours
Queenstown - 3.5 hours
Invercargill - 3 hours
Wanaka - 3.5 hrs
