Provisionally registered teacher

Our advice and guidance programme

What our programme involves:

  • face-to-face in-centre meetings between the Provisionally Registered Teacher (PRT) and the Registration Supervisor (RS) for initial goal-setting. These meetings will happen two times each year and be approximately two hours in length
  • two one-day workshops per year for the group of PRTs facilitated by the RS
  • two ‘real-time’ on-line (moodle) discussions per year for the PRT group facilitated by the RS
  • 24/7 asynchronous moodle PRT group discussions.  There will be a new topic every fortnight. The discussions will be chaired by PRTs in rotation
  • library and online membership with The Open Polytechnic of NZ (TOPNZ)
  • twice yearly, face-to-face in-centre observation and professional discussion contacts between the PRT and RS (2 hours each)
  • weekly professional journal entries
  • comprehensive readings and support materials
  • on-going feedback from your centre supported by the RS
  • external visits to other ECE centres
  • comprehensive coverage of the Satisfactory Teacher Dimensions, based on self-review of own practice and learning-centred processes
  • professional Registration Supervisors supported by our PD Manager and a quality research-based programme that meets the recommendations of the Teachers Council.
